Keeping cosy this winter

January 2, 2015

With Christmas and New Years celebrations all over it is always easy to start looking forward to the spring and longing for warmer longer days. Unfortunately we still have at least another two months of chilly winter weather left so we have shared our tips on how to add a little cosiness to your home. The feeling of coming in from the cold to a cosy home is one we love – an inviting home almost gives you a hug when you come through the front door!

The key three things we would recommend to create a cosy atmosphere in your home are colour, lighting and texture. The result is a perfect balance between comfort and style with little touches that make all the difference!

To create a backdrop to instantly change up your space use warmer, rich tones. A rich mix of colours in furnishings, fabric and accessories can do the rest; think deep blue velvets and chunky knits with brass accents and dark woods.

Plantation Rugs - Benni

Creating soft pools of light is the easiest way to create cosy spaces in the home. Using wall lamps and table lamps allows you to have more control over the lighting in your room, creating a warm glow for relaxing and watching a film, or sitting back to read a book.

Introducing texture using rugs, cushions and throws adds another dimension and helps layer up your space. Rugs help define a space by and if big enough will make your space feel even larger. Cushions and throws are the perfect way to create a little nest to wrap up warm in.

Choosing a family sofa with enough depth, or oversized armchair is another way you can ensure your living room oozes comfort.
